VDMSound

This article only applies to the DOS/QuickBasic version. It is not relevant for the current Windows and Linux versions

VDMSound is a program that allows DOS games on Windows NT, 2000 and XP (or 98/Me) to play sound even if their soundcard has no DOS-compatible drivers. It should work for any sound card that works in Windows. It will even work if there's no sound card at all (although, why you would care...)

Further, you can even log the sound that it emulates to a wave file, so it can be played back later. You can use this to make MP3 versions of BAMs, for example (Note: This will not make them sound good).
