Wandering Resourses[edit]

Dark Sentiel: James, can i use resourses from Wandering Hamster? Like tiles and battle scenes?

Bob the Hamster: Yes, as long as you release your game with a GPL license. You should include a copy of LICENSE.txt, and you should not put a password on your game. I would also appreciate a mention in the credits :)

The Mad Cacti: James, just how can you release a game under the GPL anyway? This seems crazy! What is the source code of a bitmap image? Does it mean that the source for the scripts used in the game must be provided under the GPL? Same thing if I use a piece of code from wanderp.hss in my scripts, a restriction you've never declared before.

Bob the Hamster: Ah, yes, I forgot about script source code. Dark Sentinel, if your game is GPL, you should include a copy of your script file too. As for bitmap images, the source and binary are the same, so no difficulties there. All the data in an RPG file can be thought of as "source" even though it happens to be binary. As for using code from wanderp.hss, it was not my intention to make people use GPL if they did that, so I will mark it explicitly with a less-restrictive-but-still-GPL-compatible licence like MIT or public domain or something. Thanks for drawing my attention to that.
