Talk:How do I make weather effects?

Anonymous: Wouldn't it be possible to take the ground tile and draw rain on it then make another tile, and animate it? then use overhead? I.m not trying to argue, I just think there may be a way. Im going to test it.

Anonymous: No, it won't work, it would just put the hero or npcs behind the tile, and you can see them oh well.

Anonymous: I've tried to add a rain effect but the black that wasn't used for the rain effect is interfering with the effect. Am I doing something wrong?

Bob the Hamster: Can you tell us more about the interference? A screenshot might help clarify. Also, which black color from the palette are you using? Only the top left color in the palette will be transparent.

64supermarioreturns: Okay here is the best I can do for a screen shot. Also I'm fairly sure I'm using the top left, I'll mess with it again, but if you have additional info please let me know. This is a problem

Bob the Hamster: Which map layer is the rain in? If you put the rain in layer 0, then there will be nothing underneath it to show through. The rain should be on a higher numbered layer. Also, did you check if the black is the top left color in the palette?

Layering[edit]

Now that the layering feature is stable, can someone explain how to use it? I can figure out how to display "Bottom Layer, Middle Layer, and Top Layer," but what does that do? How can I actually PLACE a tile on the top layer? I looked at Vikings of Midgard and they did an awesome snow effect......... how?

Bob the Hamster: I have started re-writing this article. You have to press PgUp and PgDn to change which layer you are editing.
