	An old Norse story relates how the God of Mischief Loki once fathered a great serpent. Unable to care for her, he directed his eldest daughter, Midgardsorm, to the depths of the ocean where she would never starve for lack of fish. There, the venomous snake grew until she encircled the world. Fearful of her father's fire, Midgardsorm has nothing to fear from her enemy Thor's wrath.
