For general information about editing fonts, see: What is a 'Font' and how do I use it?

TTF fonts (the fonts used by almost all other programs) cannot be imported into the OHRRPGCE, nor can they be automatically converted into OHF format. This article provides a guide for how to manually create a font that resembles an existing TTF font.

  1. Open a program like Micosoft Word or any equivalent. Under the program, make the backdrop black and the text white (exactly the contrary as usual). In Word: go Format, Background, and select black to change the background color. Click the down arrow to the right of the Font Color icon (an A with a red underline) on the toolbar and select white to change the text color. In OpenOffice.org: go Format, Page, Background tab and select black to change the background color. Click the down arrow to the right of the Font Color icon (an A with a red underline) on the toolbar and select white to change the text color. You should also set the font size to 8pt, and of course, choose your font.
  2. Write all the letters from A to Z (upper and lower case), all the numbers from 0 to 9, and special characters (!@#$%, etc.). Then use the Print Screen key (near the F12 key) to make a screenshot. Paste it into your favourite image editing program and save your file as myfont.bmp or myfont.png.
  3. Launch Custom and create a new game called font, and open the font editor. Use Alt+Enter to put Custom in a window. Open myfont.bmp (if you don't already have it open), and zoom in until it's nearly the same size as the font in custom.
  4. Draw the fonts as you usually would, but eyeball them from myfont.bmp. Don't forget that to be efficient you have to modifiy every letter (that's why I made you create a new game). Work from top to bottom.
  5. Export the fonts when you have finished to work and call it mynew_font1.ohf. When you will have finished the second time call the file mynew_fonts2.ohf etc... If you are working on several fonts at the same time be sure you name precisely your OHF files.
