Yes, that's a wonderful idea! Since we're a group of open source programmers, putting ads on our 100% free resource site would be a natural extension of our talents.
In fact, why not make entire pages of it in the wiki! We've done it in the past, we can do it again, no?

While the idea of making money for doing nothing always carries a certain amount of attractiveness, adding advertisements would feel very parasitic.
If you have spare money you want to throw away, rather than throwing it at a merchant who pollutes our web-space with animating flash billboards, maybe you could do something more constuctive, like offering money as a bug bounty for any developer who fixes a bug that really bothers you or implements a feature that you really want.
