	Pitch Black 2

	November 1st Midnight Release

NOTE: DO NOT REMOVE THIS TEXT FILE FROM THE ZIP CONTAINING PBlack2.RPG IF YOU ARE GOING TO DISTRIBUTE MY GAME!

Current Version: 1.0
Note: March 25, 05: Added a walkthrough and maps, as well as updated the "special thanks." Also put in the two scripts.

*****Introduction

Two years after the events that occured in Pitch Black, Julia still does not know exactly who or what she discovered in the dark mansion. Her friends revealed to her that it was all just a big joke, and elaborate sport. But Julia's fear of both the dark and the mansion is constantly worrying her.

A new girl, Maria, has moved into town. Julia's friends decide that it will be entertaining to prank this girl as well. They lead her in...and after three days haven't returned.

Julia gathers all her strength and once again enters the mansion, one final time...

*****Known Bugs

There are a few bugs, some of which we are fixing, others that we don't care about. :P

Bug #1 : It is possible when leaving a side room that wallmaps might be skewed, thanks to crappy camera angles. I BELIEVE this has been fixed (I haven't seen it since around three versions ago), but it is certainly possible it will come back.

Bug #2: Don't mash keys, or I'll kill you. Wait, that isnt' a bug. Just dont' do it, you moron.

*****Basic Controls

Pitch Black 2 has a similar method of control as Pitch Black did. However, there are quite a few added features, as well as some general tips to using controls (the OHR isn't perfect, and niether are my scripts :P)

**Pitch Black

This happens when you enter a main map. The lights will all be off. You will have to use your lantern/flashlight (depending on which character you have) to make sure that you know where you are going. You'll also need to find fuel canisters on the ground. They add roughly a minute and a half to your light.

"S" stands for swap. If you have another character available, this will allow you to swap to where you left that other character. Note that character position is saved between games.

"L" stands for lantern. This will turn on or off the lantern, as long as there is enough fuel.

"F" stands for fuel. Pressing this key will bring up a textbox letting you know how much fuel you have left to use.

As always, use the directional keys to move the current character in the specified direction.

**Rooms

When you enter a side room, the screen will fade out. Press any key to resume (it's part of a sequence we didnt' have time to put in for this release).

You'll enter the side room and you'll notice that it is a side view. Controls are simple: press space to walk your character to the curser. Press space again if you are on an item that can be viewed, or a door that can be exited. The following symbols represent different things:

Pointer - Nothing here. Press space to walk here if so desired.
Magnifying Glass - Something can be viewed here. Press space to walk, and press space again to confirm the viewing.
Arrow pointing up/down/left/right - You can walk out of the room in this direction.

It is recommended you use "enter" to quit text boxes, as that prevents the possible double-viewing of items.

*****Other Hints/Tricks/Stuff

I swore I wouldn't give hints, but what the heck, I will.

First off, WRITE STUFF DOWN. Unlike PB1, where you just got items and used them, in PB2 there are actual puzzles that require input of numbers/letters/etc. Be sure to jot down notes.

Draw some maps. This is REALLY helpful (it even helped me). Remember which halls go where (remember, they are all named). Maps really help a lot in this.

Examine everything. If you are ever stuck, it's your fault. There are ample hints all over (though one puzzle is difficult if you don't know anything about constillations or romance languages). Check stuff out.

Switch girls if one can't do something. If Julia can't read a latin phrase, use Sauki to. If Julia can't flip a certain switch, try using Sauki to do it. Simple enough.

Persist if something doesn't work - If a door doesn't open, or a drawer seems stuck, keep trying. Many a time you'll get it to work the third or fourth time around.
